Dreaming can lead an artist to create music that breaks barriers. This thought crosses Debi Nova’s mind every time she sits down at the piano to write a song. An artist with extraordinary musical talent, an exquisite personality and a captivating smile, Nova soars with the music she creates. A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist since the age of 14, Nova set out on a path to achieve her dream at 17, when she signed her first record deal. Since then, her work has received a Latin GRAMMY nomination, she has been involved with 6 other projects nominated for Grammy awards, a dance hit which reached #5 on the Billboard charts, and has collaborated with artists including Black Eyed Peas, Sean Paul, Sergio Mendes, Ricky Martin y Franco De Vita.
Her current album “SOY” recieved a 2014 Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album. The album, entirely in Spanish, showcases 11 songs that demonstrate Nova’s growth as an artist, pianist, and composer. The songs transmit warmth, positivity, contagious emotions, and unleash her capitivating spirit. The album was recorded in Mondomix Studios in Argentina, and produced by award winning producer Cachorro López.
2014 was a banner year for Nova. She performed at the Latin GRAMMY Acoustic Sessions in Mexico, at the Latin GRAMMY Academy’s Person of the Year ceremony honoring Joan Manuel Serrat, and she was chosen as the the oficial voice of the 2014 Coca Cola Christmas campaign across South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Her single “Por Última Vez” (For the Last Time), off of her latest album and featuring Franco De Vita, reached Top 10 in the region and was praised as one of 2015’s best music videos.
Nova released her first album, “Luna Nueva,” in 2010 on Decca Records. Her first single off that album, “Drummer Boy”, reached #5 on the Billboard dance charts. That same year, she participated in two of the most watched TV shows in North America, “Dancing With The Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance”. In 2011, Nova was invited by the Venezuelan singer Franco De Vita to participate in the recording of the song “Si Quieres Decir Adiós” (If You Want To Say Goodbye) , which was included in Franco De Vita’s album “En Primera Fila” (Front Row). She toured with De Vita throughout Latin America, performing more than 60 shows with the singer. She has currently been touring once again with De Vita throughout Central and South America.
In 2011, MTV Latin America awarded her the MTV Chiuku: Agent of Change award, for her work in the United Nations’ campaign “UNITE to end violence against women”, and in 2012, she was named ambassador of YUNGA (Youth and United Nations Global Alliance).
